Sleepy's Mattress Chooses Agentek to Provide Real-Time Fleet Management Communications
Agentek Enables Electronic Signature & Proof of Delivery
Bethpage, NY – November 21, 2002– Sleepy’s, the largest mattress retailer in the Northeast with over 250 store locations announced today that it has deployed a fully integrated fleet management solution using Agentek’s AgentDelivery and AgentManager mobile and server software solutions. The Agentek “Air Traffic Control” module provides real-time visibility to the entire Sleepy’s enterprise including stores, back office and dispatch operations. Emails are provided in seconds to each store to notify them of any delivery issues so that pro-active customer service can be provided. Electronic Signature capture and credit card authorization is collected by the driver and submitted wirelessly back to Sleepy’s in seconds.
Sleepy’s delivery drivers have been equipped with Symbol Technologies’ PPT-2833 Hand Held Portable Data Computers & Print Pads, with fully integrated CDPD wireless modems. Using this public data network and no proprietary middleware, Agentek software runs seamlessly in both batch mode & real time, regardless of coverage, with no interruption, while invisible to the user. The Agentek application resides on the hand held and allows for complete driver editing of the electronic delivery receipt, collection of payments, and adjustment of inventory items. The driver is able to provide a clean delivery receipt to the customer, which is printed out right on site from the integrated portable print pad. In seconds, full delivery information and signature files are sent back wirelessly to Sleepy’s Host System, which updates instantly their backend Oracle Enterprise and Dispatch Operation. Seamless integration was provided by Agentek through their unique architecture and integration objects.
“Perhaps the primary reason for choosing Agentek was the fact that they could provide us real-time data to our backend enterprise systems without tying up our IT staff with complicated integration projects” says Don Rowley, Vice President of Information Systems at Sleepy’s.
Sleepy’s is already seeing three primary benefits from the system. First is administrative productivity by shortcutting or eliminating complicated data entry into enterprise backend systems. Second, is true real-time visibility of deliveries to customers. “I am talking REAL real-time visibility…in seconds to every aspect of the company including dispatch, administration and out to the stores. That means customer service and that means our business,” says Don Rowley. Finally, for the first time Sleepy’s is getting real productivity data from the drivers about on-time deliveries and numbers of stops.
“I can’t say enough about the dedication and professionalism of Agentek. Their guys did a first class job with implementing the system and even solved problems that were not their own. Complete and total dedication to delivering a perfect system has been the key to success with Agentek.” Don expects to achieve even more benefits as the system is in use over time.
“Sleepy’s is taking advantage of best-in-class technologies to provide it’s fleet with critical management tools that will increase this leading retailer’s operating efficiencies,” said Erik Anderson, vice president of sales, Agentek. “It is exciting to see an organization dedicated to bringing its customers and employees state-of-the-art technological capabilities, while finding a way to achieve cost-savings and improved customer service and fleet operations at the same time.”
